how are you? we've had a busy time lately...

we went to slovenia to sprinkle the seeds of straight 8 at golden drum ad festival, courtesy of our friends at kodak.

will and ed told the story of straight 8 and shocked and wowed the crowd with a selection of awesome straight 8 entries from the back catalogue.

and of course, challenged them to enter

and we met diana from archive magazine who's now a media partner for s8 2012 - thanks archive!

we 'virtually' attended a screening at amherst..... in massachussetts, usa. thanks alexandra hall for helping put that together

we've been to goldsmiths college film society and various london ad agencies laying down the gauntlet

next stops on our plans for world pollination: poland for the camerimage festival, and our friends andrea and vincent will screen straight 8 once again in nice, france at rencontres. plus paris TONIGHT - see below

straight 8 was commissioned to produce the official trailer for the london short film festival which happens next january. look out for it on the lsff site and all over the web in early december

it involved one super 8 cartridge, a lot of paper and scissors and some very late nights

deadlines - enter s8 2012 in time for:

SLAMDANCE DEADLINE EXTENSION: MID-DEC

we've extended the first s8 2012 deadline - the one that means your film is eligible for our slamdance premiere in utah in january.

you now have till december 12th to make a film eligible for that and get it back to us in london (also eligible for our cannes selections for may).

reporting from cannes + more selections

hi straight 8 fans everywhere

cannes was a blast

our 9th year and the 1st time in the prestigious UK pavilion
the 8 top films from 115 submitted to s8 2011 played to a mega-high energy crowd and goosebumps, tears, laughter and shouting ensued. it truly was one of the most exciting years yet. nearly all the films were represented by big gangs of cast and crew from the uk, germany and spain - of course none of them had seen their film yet

the films are up online for a limited time, and so is discounted entry to s8 2012 - so don't procrastinate. go there now. and if you're inspired, grab the discount now cos it won't be there for long. s8 is all about doing it. so do it

a massive thanks to all the triumphant filmmakers, their crew's and casts. you rock

next public screening of the cannes selection is at cannes ad fest on friday june 24 at 11.30am at the star cinema, back in cannes (yawn!), ash-cloud permitting. where we will also premiere some of the best entries to s8 2011 from the ad agency and production community.

2011 cannes film festival premiere in cannes & live online: wednesday early evening

the cream of the 2011 straight 8 crop will hit the big screen in cannes tonight (wednesday 18th) at 7.30 pm local time (CET)

the 8 best films selected from 115 films entered this year will screen at a packed awesome new venue - the uk film centre

and the 2011 'creme-de-la-cannes' filmmakers will see their work for the very first time with a rapt audience cheering them on

someone (not sure who) calls this 'the most rock and roll screening in cannes' - don't miss it!

deadline extension

we've extended the deadline for straight 8 2011 to midnight, april 18th

you've got a whole month left to make your film - time enough to make something amazing

for our 9th consecutive year at cannes we're moving up in the world to the prestigious UK film centre

it's a beautiful beach-front pavillion in the heart of the international village and the home of the british film industry in cannes

it's an incredible place to see your film and to have it seen
